"My family moved to Edmonton from BC and as such required provincial health care and drivers licenses. We ran into a hiccup regarding some documents but the agent, Mina found a way to make it all work and get our registration started. I've dealt with Mina 3 times in the past 3 days and each time she has been super friendly, knowledgeable and looks for outside the box ways to help. Thanks so much Mina! P.S. the fact they are open until 7pm is very accommodating if you work 9-5 type hours. Keep up the great work and stay safe Abbey Road!!!"

"Went in with my partner who is visibly a minority.. Just wanted to get our health cards transferred over as new citizens of Alberta. They were weary when we approached the desk, looking him up and down like he is some kind of threat, and the girl who gave us the forms to fill out wrinkled her nose when i said he was my boyfriend. After filling out the forms, we waited patiently in line and when the first teller freed up to serve us, she literally ran off to the back for ten minutes. Not to the bathroom (went right past it), not to get any papers and not long enough to be a break. The other tellers slowed down their dealings with the other customers while she was away, and I began to get the distinct feeling we were being avoided as we made the staff uncomfortable, simply by existing. When she finally came back and noticed her colleagues were still helping others and we were still waiting, she could not stop the look of disdain on her face as she stepped back up to her stall, forced to serve us, instead of pawning us off on someone else. I am white, was promptly served and got everything I needed with politeness and accuracy. My partner was mostly ignored and given significantly more hurdles to climb over to get the identical service, with identical documents. In the end, they refused to actually help him, citing they could not prove he was a citizen of Canada, despite him carrying a health card and driver's license from another province, which requires you to be a Canadian citizen to acquire. As we left, he went out the door first, so didn't feel the level of tension in the room plummet the second he crossed the threshold, or the sigh of relief from the teller who helped us. We didn't get angry, we didn't get aggressive, we didn't get confrontational, we just did what was allowed, and left. This place disgusts me, and needs a serious refresher course on customer service and racial tolerance. This is no way to act, it's 2020 and you're representing the government, and as non white employees yourselves, you shouldn't be racially profiling anyone. I know it hurts when people do it to you, why do it to someone else? Very Very dissapointed."

"Was there the lady who attended me at first was so nice calm and answered all my concerns. I went back to register my car in the evening the old lady treated me so rude her face was frown whenever I asked for something. I realized asking her questions makes her upset... I apologize to her if I might have wronged.I hope she can read this post. “ please treat people well because you don’t know who you might meet out there”"
