Knowledge tests for all licence classes are offered in all DriveTest Centres. Knowledge tests are written tests that determine whether you have a good understanding of the rules of the road and traffic signs. They consist of multiple-choice questions based on the official drivers handbooks.

Road tests (for cars/vans/small trucks; motorcycles; and commercial vehicles) assess your driving skills according to MTO criteria. A road test involves driving your own vehicle with a driver examiner as an observer.

"Yesterday I went to the Oakville location to do the written test. I got there minutes to 9am and they just opened. I got through without any issues and the staff were extremely nice and polite to me. The two women who both assisted me, were pleasant and kind and cracked jokes with me which made me feel at ease. When I passed, they congratulated me and complimented on how great I did and wished me good luck with my driving endeavors. I would recommend this location for doing the written test. If you could go as soon as they open, you will get through without issues. Good luck to all who are writing or doing the road test."

"I went for G2 at Oakville location. These people are doing amazing job despite of COVID-19. Employees are alert, helpful and managing things well. No long queues. I came across a truly professional driver examiner. He was punctual, sensible and disciplined, instructed every event in advance so that l could prepare myself beforehand. His voice was audible, firm and clear. Great experience 👍"

"Going to a government office is never fun or really enjoyed. Throw in all Covid measures and well better off to stay home and do what you can complete online if possible. I feel the office needs a dedicated person at the front door to properly direct people needing to use this offices services. Seems a little unorganized and signage leaves you wondering am I in the proper line. Arrived at the office at 10:00am on a Monday and took me roughly an hour and a half to in and out."
