Knowledge tests for all licence classes are offered in all DriveTest Centres. Knowledge tests are written tests that determine whether you have a good understanding of the rules of the road and traffic signs. They consist of multiple-choice questions based on the official drivers handbooks.

Road tests (for cars/vans/small trucks; motorcycles; and commercial vehicles) assess your driving skills according to MTO criteria. A road test involves driving your own vehicle with a driver examiner as an observer.

"Super friendly staff, at the counter as well as the evaluators. I came here to do a M2 exit exam (M license) and Josh and John were super friendly. Don’t get me wrong, if you cannot ride they won’t pass you (they’re professional), but they won’t cause you any PTSD like I had when doing my M2 exam (M1 exit) at the Ottawa location. Glad I drove all the way here for the test! City is pretty too"

"Very rude and unprofessional. No Custmer service. Just rude rude rude. Thank god l have had my license over 30 years. Just went in and asked a question for my teen son to find out what is required. Guess you cant ask questions!!! I wish l could give them a zero!! For a Government agency its atrocious!!!"

"I went from Ottawa to Renfrew for my m2 exam, my tester? Test guy was incredibly patient and explained everything very well. I had a fantastic experience I'm definitely doing the trip for my M test. Worth the ride."

"Need to update the website. Says it’s open at 8:30. Someone changed the time on the door to 9:00. Looks like someone took a razor blade to the 8 and 3 and used whiteout to make a 9 and a 0. Websites for Drive Test need a complete overhaul. Confusing and tough to navigate on a mobile device."
