Knowledge tests for all licence classes are offered in all DriveTest Centres. Knowledge tests are written tests that determine whether you have a good understanding of the rules of the road and traffic signs. They consist of multiple-choice questions based on the official drivers handbooks.

Road tests (for cars/vans/small trucks; motorcycles; and commercial vehicles) assess your driving skills according to MTO criteria. A road test involves driving your own vehicle with a driver examiner as an observer.

"Warning : LONG WAIT TIMES !!! The WAIT IS OUTSIDE ! NO CHAIRS ! MUST STAND WAIT CAN TAKE HOURS ! COME EARLY !!!ARRIVE HOURS BEFORE OPENING UNTIL COVID 19 DIMS DOWN. 1. PEOPLE START LINING UP AT 3:30am- 4:00am earliest. Bring warm clothing, water, food and A PORTABLE CHAIR IF YOU HAVE ONE. You will lose your spot in line if you need to use the washroom or get food. Unless a stranger, family, friend is willing to hold your spot in the line until you come back. Try your hardest to remain positive, having to wait for hours can exhaust you and you may not do as well as you thought you would, best to come early. 2. My first experience and FIRST DAY; I arrived at 8:30am and waited a SHOCKING 6 hours before getting a ticket into the building and left at 3:30. THE PROCESS TOOK 7 HOURS ALL IN ALL. NEXT DAY: I came the NEXT day, for a different service, arrived at 5:20am this time and there was at STILL a least 100 people ahead of me, luckily I was finished by 8am ( 2 and a half hours ; DRASTIC DIFFERENCE than the day before) The earlier you go the faster the line gets to moving. 3. Organization could be better, there should be a drive test staff outdoors to direct and answers people's questions more frequently; they come outside periodically. 4. Most staff are helpful you may come across some who are not so nice as I overheard the tone of some of the staff. 5. Many people get turned away; make sure to check the ministry of transportation for what documents are considered."

"This week is for customers born between July to December. I arrived at 2 pm and finished my G1 test at 3:20 pm. It was much faster than I thought. I waited for the queue under the burning sun, but everything was organized. Staffs are helpful. I was served by an old lady at counter No.10, and she smiled all the time, patient and friendly! I recommend people come here early in the morning, or late in the afternoon from Monday to Wednesday to avoid the long line. Besides, don't forget to prepare all documents they needed beforehand and check which customer being served that week."

"First of all, I appreciate each staff who tries to articulate their words for international people like the girl who did the same for me when I went to this branch for taking G1 knowledge test; I understand how challenging and boring can be for someone to deal with various accents from different countries. In my idea, the staff of this branch is trying to do their best; nonetheless, better solutions should be considered for important problems including being time-consuming and waiting outdoors; specifically, in these days that the weather is rainy. For instance, It took me 5 hours from 8 A.M. to 13 P.M. to take only G1 knowledge test."

"I would suggest showing up at around 4am in the morning so that you can be assured you will get service that day, otherwise the line ups are incredibly long (6-8 hours easily) after around 6am. Bring yourself a chair, some food and water, dress for the weather and bring something to help you pass the time. Good luck, and remember the early bird gets the worm here!"
